About this park

A small neighborhood park in the South Wedge with a wide grassy field, mature shade trees, and a few benches. There's no fence and off-leash isn't permitted, but the open lawn gets used as a leashed run-around by nearby residents. Maintenance is uneven by city standards; the playground gear is functional but dated.

What visitors consistently say
The highlights

Reliable shade, a wide and uncrowded lawn, and a calm residential surround. Reviews consistently describe a pleasant, neighborhood-paced feel.

The community

Residents from the surrounding South Wedge blocks. Quiet most hours, with light playground use and occasional pickup ball games on the rough little league field.

Before you go

Unfenced. The surrounding streets are residential and low-traffic, but a long line on a recall-iffy dog is the safer call. A long lead works well on the open field.

Frequently asked

Is the park off-leash?
No. There is no designated off-leash area, so dogs stay leashed here as they do in other City of Rochester parks. The lawn is wide enough that a long line still gives real running room.
Is it fenced?
No. The grass runs straight out to the surrounding streets with nothing to stop a dog. Those streets are residential and quiet, but a flight risk belongs on a lead the whole time.
Is there water or a restroom?
Bring your own. This is a small neighborhood green space with benches and trash cans, no drinking fountain and no restroom.
Does it suit senior or small dogs?
It does. The lawn is flat, the mature trees hold shade through the afternoon, and there are benches to break up a slow leashed loop.
Is the whole field safe to walk on?
Mostly. The open lawn is fine, but the little league field along one edge is rough, with a sunken drainage spot and holes hidden in the outfield grass. Steer a ball-chasing dog away from it.
