Paris Mountain State Park
Four lakes and foothills trails, six miles north of downtown
About this park
A 1,540-acre state park six miles north of downtown, with four lakes, a 19th-century dam, and miles of hiking and biking trails winding through the lower Blue Ridge foothills. Leashed-only across all trails; the short Lake Placid loop is the accessible intro and the longer Brissy Ridge and Sulphur Springs routes give a hard-run handler a real day out.
Amenities
What visitors say
Synthesized from 3999 Google reviewsReviewers come back for the Lake Placid overlook, the dam, and the sheer range of trail difficulty. Staff at the office get repeated praise for trail-picking advice and for knowing what's currently rideable versus hike-only.
Day-trippers from Greenville, through-hikers staging for the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a steady trickle of campers at the overnight sites. Busier on weekends when the lake fills up, quieter in winter.
Best for
Before you go
Admission is 6 dollars per person, leashes are required on every trail, and dogs are not allowed in the swimming area. Parking is limited at the main lake on weekends, so arrive early or use the off-season. Some trails still show Hurricane Helene damage, so check the park office before the long loops.
