Conestee Nature Preserve
Leashed paved trails through a 400-acre wetland preserve
About this park
A 400-acre wildlife preserve built around a silted-in former lake, with paved and boardwalk trails threading through wetland, river, and forest habitat. Leashed-only, but the trail variety (lake loops, observation decks, the naturescape playground) makes it a genuine destination on its own and the obvious pairing with the adjacent fenced dog park.
Amenities
What visitors say
Synthesized from 2614 Google reviewsReviewers call out the mix of surfaces (paved path, wooden boardwalk, dirt trail) and the wildlife density: beavers, turtles, over 200 bird species, the occasional non-venomous snake. The observation deck over the lake is the photo everyone sends home.
A steady current of walkers, joggers, and birders at the trailheads, with long stretches of near-empty trail the further you get from parking. Quieter overall than the dog park next door.

Before you go
Leashes are required throughout the preserve, including the boardwalks. The main trail loop can still show storm damage from recent hurricane seasons, so check the Conestee Foundation trail status before committing to the long version.
